I was born in Salisbury Rhodesia, (nowadays Zimbabwe) in 1973. At the age of three my family left then Rhodesia for South Africa. We were neither rich nor poor, just average working class. After leaving school end of 1991, I was drafted into the South African Navy Jan 1992. I served there for two years as an engineer onboard the River Class Mine Hunters, MCM flotilla.
Upon leaving the South African Navy, I enrolled at the Cape Technicon, where I studied and qualified in Nature Conservation. During this time and later, I continued to serve in the SA Navy Reserve Forces. There I also continued my learning from military communications, combat coxswains, and earned the rank of Leading Seaman. I successfully passed pre-selection, then selection, and graduated into the Elite South African Navy Divers; serving for seven years.
From an early age I was introduced to firearms, with my first real encounter being at the age of 13, being handed an old break breach 12 bore double barrel shotgun. When the instructor said shoot, I made the mistake of squeezing BOTH triggers; now that was an education in pain management! Fortunately, the instructor caught the now discharged shotgun as I dropped it.
I purchased my first Glock 17 and headed to a good friend of mine’s firearm class; what a class, setting the standard for my future learning. Since then, I have been blessed to walk in the company with some of the greats, from Gabe Suarez, Peter G Kokalis, Kelly McCann, Andre Johnson, Dave Lamprecht, to name a few.
My curriculum is always changing, developing and maturing whilst being under constant review.One thing I do not run is a military class. I focus on civilians; as at the end of the day, we are all civilians. Our training focuses on lifestyle modification; we take basic yet very effective real world techniques that most people can do, and teach you how to incorporate them into your lifestyle.
Not everybody is the same, different body types, health issues, mobility restrictions, and no, you can’t be anything you want to be! But rather, "We take something your body can do NATURALLY and weaponize it”
